After a long absence, here I return with a Dutch classic: the #appelkanjers! ๐๐
Delicious puff pastries filled with apples and raisins. Perfect and easy bake for the Autumn season ๐

For 5 pieces, you need
- 10 slices of butter puff pastry (or homemade puff pastry) – for the Dutchies, I used the roomboterbladerdeeg)
- 1 pink lady apple
- 30 gr brown sugar
- 2 tbs raisins
- 1 tsp cinnamon
For the topping
- 20gr eggwhites
- 40 gr brown sugars
- 40 gr almond flakes
- powedered sugar for final decoration
Procedure ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ณ
๐Cut 10 circles from the puff pastry with a diameter of 12 cm.
๐Place 5 circles, the sticky side up, on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
๐Peel the applesand cut it into very small cubes. In a bowl, combine the apple with the sugar, cinnamon and raisins.
๐Place 1 tbs of apple mixture in the middle of the puff pastry disks,
๐Brush the edges with water and place the remaining 5 circles of puff pastry, the sticky side down, on top. Press the edges with a fork.
๐For the topping, beat the egg white and mix it with the sugar. Add the almond flakes and stir well. Pour the topping batter on the apple puff pastries (the appelkanjers).
๐Bake in pre-heated oven (185 degrees) fo about 30 minutes until nicely browned.
๐Let the appelkanjers cool done before sprinkling them with icing sugar.
